Operation Support Our Troops Illinois
Gene and Beverly Grant of Grant &
Power Landscaping, Inc. presented the volunteers of Operation
Support Our Troops - IL, Inc (OSOTIL) with a check for
$40,000. This is the second consecutive year that Grant &
Power Landscaping, Inc. has donated to the organization. Last
year, a donation of $30,000 was given to sponsor a new OSOTIL
warehouse. The warehouse is used to take in donations of
collected items that the organization will then pack and send to
American troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations
around the world.
"This is a dream come true for us," said OSOTIL President Deb
Rickert. "We have been operating out of a warehouse
donated to us by a Vietnam Vet for the last four years but as we
have grown we have required more space to continue to meet our
goals. Grant & Powers' generosity is overwhelming."
"Our support for OSOTIL has personal ties to it." said Gene and
Beverly Grant. "Our nephew Brian along with our daughter
Vicki and son Michael served our country in the military. Our son
served in the Persian Gulf in the Navy. He was killed in a car
accident while on leave. We know the hardship and sacrifice the
young men and women make while serving our country. We are thrilled
to be part of an organization that helps bring a smile to the faces
of our brave soldiers by helping OSOTIL send these care
packages."
The warehouse also includes office and meeting space that will
be used for the organizations Family Resource and Support Team,
according to Rickert. OSOTIL has sent over 16,000 25-pound
care packages to deployed troops since March of
2003.
Grant & Power Landscaping, Inc. first became involved with
OSOTIL as a sponsor for the 2006 Rockin' for the Troops event
featuring Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band. The company then
decided to commit 3% of their new business for the month's of July,
August, and September, which resulted in a $30,000 donation.
This year Grant & Power Landscaping set a goal to exceed their
2007 contribution by raising $40,000 in time for the 2008 Rockin'
for the Troops concert event.
Grant & Power Landscaping, Inc. started in 1978 with 2 men
and now employs over 100 people. They are a landscape design/build
firm and also provide landscape maintenance and commercial snow
